Leading Lady

Talk about an amazing day! I think that must have been today. Actually, this week in general has been great: I have been trying to get back into the swing of things, and it has been a good week for that. Having said that, however, I have soooooo much due for next week that this weekend is going to be very much work-filled. CoCaesar’s Palace was a huge success yesterday, and it was a ton of fun! I am glad that it went really well and mostly smoothly. :) I came back at almost 10PM, and I was quite exhausted. I was talking to a few friends online, and one of them asked how the event went, and I said “awesome” and all that jazz. Then, he said, “I guess you are now the leading lady of the CoC, since all of the events I hear from you.” And I didn’t really think much of it until he said it, and I realized he was right! I have done sooooo much this past year (in addition to classes), including TAing, researching, Women@CC, study abroad, blogged, and eventually, be on the feature page! So, if that is not leading..! So, in response to my friend (after all of this ran through my head in those few minutes), I said “I guess so. I hope it all pays off.”

This morning, I got an email, and it stated (in addition to other things) the following:

Congratulations Sweta! You have been selected by the College of Computing to receive the Outstanding Undergraduate Award for 2008. We would like to recognize you for this honor during our 17th Annual Awards Celebration…”

Needless to say, I am a very happy girl today! :) I just thought it was really coincidental, but the lesson of the day: hard work DOES pay off, no matter what you are doing. Even if I hadn’t received the award, I still feel good inside, doing all of those things. To celebrate, I am going to just take a night off and catch up on sleep and do something aside from study for a little bit, so… sweet dreams! :)
