One thing that doesn’t happen very often in college is catching up with good friends. In fact, it’s really hard, especially when everybody is so busy and full of stuff to do. It’s even harder when people don’t understand the busy-ness and bother people and stress them out about it: that’s just horrible. However, when that time rolls around and you finally *do* get to catch up with one of your closest friends at a local Starbucks for more than 2 hours, it’s just the most amazing feeling in the world!
Oh my goodness!! I JUST SAW RASMUS LERDORF (creator of PHP). OH.MY.GOSH!! Anyway, he is here THIS ENTIRE WEEK, and giving talks every day, since it is Yahoo! University Hack Week this week at our school, sponsored by our wonderful ACM group (great job for awesome events so far). There are tons of tech talks, food, prizes, pretty much anything and everything. It really is like a CS major’s heaven (well, it is mine, for sure)!
That has been the topic of this past 10 days. I do not understand how some people cannot understand that. At college, and beyond, life is what you make of it, and what you make of it is determined by your priorities. It is important to make sure of your priorities. And sometimes, you might think that you know your priorities, but then, you really have completely different ones. This is not bad when you are independent, but when you are working with other people and they are trying to help you, you should not really blow them off: doing that proves that your mind is not really where you claim it is, and it says a lot about your personality sometimes too.
Do you miss blow pops? Connect Four? Ever want to listen to *NSYNC or other boy bands? :) Make sure to come and check out The Throwback event, hosted by the Minorities@CC, with help from Women@CC, ESP, and SAB@CC. There will be tons of ’90s food and games, and of course, prizes to give away. It should be a great success. I, for one, will totally be checking it out, and you should too!
There is no i in group… except in this one. Wait. There are 2 i’s in it, apparently! I have nothing else to say. Hopefully, tomorrow goes better than today. At the end of the day, I guess it’s all that matters that you are smiling. And I am, but for completely different reasons than I should be. Anyway, this post is seemingly completely meaningless, but there is a lot of emotion in it to the people that can understand.
Some games are just worth watching. Today’s college ball game was one of them. With less than 1 minute left, a 3-point shot was made, and then, within the last 1.9 seconds, we also scored a 3-point shot. But then, even though a foul should have been called and we could have tied the game, the referees didn’t call the foul! But similar to the Superbowl, the game was lots of fun and really great to watch.
El momente es ideal. After weeks and weeks of constant schoolwork, I finally get some time off! I am really happy and excited about the fact that I get a few hours this weekend to regroup, after a really hectic time period. Last night was SalsamorII, and it was tons of fun! I learned how to salsa. It is such a powerful dance; its variety just makes it so exciting. I was also really happy that I got to dance with lots of different people, including the instructor himself (who happens to be a student in the course I TA… coincidence :) )!
En el viernes, voy a una baila de salsa con mis amigos!!!! Estoy muy emocionada! So, right now, it is at two tests down, two to go. I have a long night ahead, but I definitely have some exciting times coming up, and I am really excited that in the course of the rest of the semester, I do not have 2 tests on a day again (until finals week, but that is different).
