You thought GT campus was pretty? Check out this UPC campus (pictures do not do justice to this place- you have to go for yourself and experience it)! It is absolutely gorgeous! I get a break in the mornings, and I love just walking through the campus, or sitting under a tree, writing in my diary. The breeze, the environment, the bustling of the people, everything is just so perfect. I am really looking forward to the rest of a summer full of classes- I think in an environment like this, time will fly, and classes will be really fun!
It is finally here! :) It is my fourth day in Barcelona, and this place is absolutely amazing. I have concluded, from the few days in Paris (from 2005) and from the few days I have spent here, that I love Europe!! :) Europe is a *PERFECT* mix between America & India. Plus, I am here with some amazing people! :) I am updating pictures daily on my photobucket site. More to come later… *Note: I accidentally deleted the rest of my blog… I hope this page will translate itself back to English sometime.
Well, I finally made some last-minute changes to our poster… it looks like everybody got an extension on that. After a great year of research, we won SECOND PLACE in the competition! =) It was1 really exciting!! I am looking forward to another year of fun & exciting research coming up! =)
This is how the final poster turned out. I wrote all of the text, and Brittany was supposed to do all of the pictures. She came up with the outcome matrix, and together, the three of us came up with the rest of the pictures. I have attached a file of the final poster. I will be presenting it on Friday, while Brittany will present it Wednesday (I cannot make the Wednesday workshop because of class).
We have collected all of the surveys and analyzed the results. For a pilot study, the results were pretty good. There are a few relationship types that must be fixed up and a few questions in the survey that should be either rephrased or discarded. We have also started working and finalizing everything for our poster presentation. Brittany & I have decided to split the work: She will work on the figures, and I will work on all of the text.
Just yesterday, all of the mentors in the program attended a workshop. There, we basically reviewed and learned the different types of responsibilities and commitments required of all of the mentors. Soon enough, we should be making our first trip to the school and meeting our mentees! =)
This week, we discussed the different questions. By next week, we will have a finalized set of questions, and we will receive all of the different questions (with different relationship types on each packet of questions), and we will have one week to collect the data we need. By the time we get back from Spring break, the survey information will be complete and the data will be analyzed. We should be putting our final results together… this is so exciting!
It has been quite a while, and in all of that time, Start To Finish has really progressed! About 2-3 weeks ago, three of us together, along with a representative from the College Of Computing, went to North Atlanta High School (which is about 10 minutes drive from Georgia Tech). We were at the meeting for about 2 hours or so and met a lot of different people. It looks like there are a lot of students lined up for this program, in the school.
